Serving children is very important to the Free Evangelical Church of Göttingen. We do so in accordance with Jesus’ words in Mark 10:14:
“Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.”
That is why the work at KIGOLAND is guided by the following core values:
| KIGOLAND is child-friendly | |
| Everything we do and create should be guided by the principle of child-centeredness: we want to see and learn through the eyes of children. The children enjoy themselves; we sing songs they want to sing, the lessons are easy for them to understand, and the space appeals to them. | |
| KIGOLAND is creative | |
| We are convinced that the Gospel is the most exciting message of all time and should therefore be shared in a varied and creative way. Given the many fascinating biblical stories, dramatic elements play a particularly important role in our group sessions. | |
| KIGOLAND is relationship-oriented | |
| Building relationships with each and every child is of paramount importance to us. We want every child to feel known, loved, and valued. In small groups, we aim to guide the children personally and spiritually and to model for them what it means to have an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ. | |
| KIGOLAND is relevant. | |
| Our goal is not merely to impart biblical knowledge (“What happened?”), but to connect the biblical truths we teach (“What does this mean?”) to the children’s lives (“What now?”). Everything we teach should have practical significance for the children and be something they can put into practice. | |
| KIGOLAND is fun. | |
| Children's church should be fun. Kids will come regularly if they enjoy it—and then they'll bring their friends along, too. |
Working with children is very important to the Free Evangelical Church of Göttingen. This work is guided by Jesus’ words in Mark 10:14:
“Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.”
That is why the work at KIGOLAND is guided bythe followinggoals:
| The children experience God's love in their own lives and share it with their friends. | |
| We invite children to believe in Jesus Christ and follow him. We help them live out their faith in their daily lives. (God’s love and grace: Ephesians 2:8–9) | |
| The children are encouraged and guided to read the Bible and pray regularly, and they develop a love for worshiping and praising God. | |
| We introduce children to Bible stories and the message of the Bible. We help them praise and worship God through songs and prayers. (Spiritual Growth: 2 Peter 3:18) | |
| The children experience a real sense of community. | |
| We help children grow to love the church as a place of fellowship where they feel comfortable and safe, where they have positive experiences, and where they enjoy coming (back). In the process, we teach them Christian values and behaviors. We also enjoy fun activities together. (Community: Acts 2:46) | |
| The children discover their talents and are encouraged to put them into practice. | |
| We help children see their talents and abilities as gifts from God. We support them in applying these gifts in their daily lives. (Romans 12:6–8) | |
| The children learn to make good use of their time, resources, and opportunities. | |
| We help children learn to manage their personal resources wisely. We support them in using these resources appropriately in their daily lives. (Good Stewardship: Philippians 4:11–19) |
